Our Story
Where It All Began
Hearthwoods began in 1989 when Andrew Brown left his advertising career in New York City and returned home to the Michigan woods to pursue his passion for design. What began with reclaimed driftwood soon turned into finely crafted furniture built from natural hardwoods, each piece created in collaboration with the homeowner.
In 1991, Mary Brown joined the team and expanded Hearthwoods into a full showroom that brings warmth and character to Lakeside. Her curated selection of décor, lighting, textiles and unique finds helps customers finish their spaces with comfort and style.
Today, their work can be found in homes and businesses throughout the country where beauty and function meet in pieces made to be lived with and enjoyed.

Materials With a Story
We use reclaimed and responsibly sourced hardwoods including walnut, oak, hickory, maple, elm, and heart pine. Many pieces are made with materials salvaged from barns and historic industrial buildings. Every piece of wood carries its own history and that story becomes part of the home it’s crafted for.
